Spring At Conkle’s Hollow

 

On a wonderful spring day Wednesday I
took a walk into Conkle’s Hollow State Park
to see what was in bloom there.
There were many wild flowers in bloom there
so the rest of the parks in the area will be
in bloom also.

The Dogwood trees are in bloom at the
entrance and in the woods.

 

The fields are full of blue violets and Spring Beauties.

 

The Bluebells are blooming along the creek that runs
through the hollow.

Downey Yellow Violets were up in the hollow
along the path.

 

Along with the common Blue Violets and…

Even a lighter blue violet was there.

 

Along with a few white violets.

 

Dutchman Breeches and Spring Beauty

 

Golden Ragwort grows on the bank
at the creek and bridge entrance to
the hollow.

Trillium’s are everywhere along the path, creek
and hillsides.

This unknown looks like a ground phlox bloom.

The May Apples are just coming up.

The ferns are unfolding with new growth.

An old Apple tree

 

The Ironwood seed heads of last fall will be shed
to make room for new growth and the seeds will
be future plants of gorgeous purple blooms of new
Ironwood plants for this Fall.
